SAD WINGS OF DESTINY...A BLOG FOR WHO THE HELL KNOWS

Why am I writing a blog? Who the hell knows. I don't even like blogs. And I don't even think anyone is going to read this crap. But I figure I may have something to put out. Weird thing is that I don't even have any music playing at the moment. And I always have music playing when I'm on the computer. Maybe it's because my ears are freaking ringing like a MF. Why are they ringing you ask? Well, because last night I saw anothe killer tribute band play live. This time it was "FEARLESS FLOYD" an incredible Pink Floyd tribute that blew me away. These guys played three fabulous sets in a span of , get this, four hours. That's right...four hours. The band played 8 years of Pink Floyd's best musical writing. From "MEDDLE'S" 1971 masterpiece all the way to Roger Water's 1979 concept album "THE WALL". Truly fantastic material. I wrote a review of the show YOU CAN READ IT HERE And guess what? tonight I'm going to do it all over again with three more tribute bands for me to indulge in. The first band will be a CREAM tribute (Wheels Of Fire) , the second will be a BEATLES tribute (8 Arms To Hold You), and the third? the mighty music of LED ZEEPPELIN will be transported by the boys of "SWAN SONG" which I have seen many times before. I will be writing reviews for 2 out of the 3 bands for Harder Beat Magazine (a Dallas publication dedicated to music). I'm tired, that's all for now.

Wow, I'm still awake and cannot sleep because last night at O'Riley's here in Dallas I witnessed the best Led Zeppelin tribute band 'SWAN SONG" deliver the most spectacular three hour set I have ever seen in my entire life. I've seen these guys play many, many times...but never like this. They literally took their performance to a whole nother level. YOU CAN READ "SWAN SONG" PERFORMANCE REVIEW HERE Anyway, this completes another week of seeing great tribute bands. Oh, I almost forgot the Cream tribute band "Wheels Of Fire" that was supposed to play cancelled. However, "8 Arms To Hold You" did play and delivered a wonderful 2 hour set of very early Beatles music. Get this....The drummer is 17 years old and a senior in High School. In fact, the oldest member of the band just recently became old enough to drink. How can these guys possibly know Beatles music? Well, they not only know it, but they perfected it. Well, another tribute filled weekend with three bands that covered my calendar. Twin Soul at Sherlocks Friday night who played mostly top hits from the 80's. Not a bad band from Memphis TN. Ufortunately, the place was dead. They did play 4 10 song 45 minute sets though, and I had fun. Saturday I was off to O'Riley's again for a metal experience. Tooth & Nail a tribute to Dokken as well as Diver Down a Van Halen tribute band were the main attractions. Very good performances from boty parties. HERE IS THE REVIEWS FROM THOSE PERFORMANCES

An extremely busy month for me. I have seen a total of 12 bands so far and scheduled to see 16 more in the next 14 days. The highlights so far have been TOOTH & NAIL (Dokken tribute) 8/4/07, DIVER DOWN (Van Halen tribute) 8/4/07, CRYSTAL PLANET (Joe Satriani tribute) 8/9/07, ALREADY GONE (Eagles tribute) 8/11/07. THOSE REVIEWS ARE POSTED HERE Tomorrow 8/18/07 is a huge day as more than 10 tribute bands will perform at TRIBUTE FEST. (BACK IN BLACK, DESTROYER, ALCOHOLLICA, LIVE WIRE, TOOTH & NAIL, OUT OF THE CELLAR, XES WHISKEY, TRES HOMBRES, DIVER DOWN, JUDAS RISING) Cannot wait for that. Performance reviews will be added on OUT OF THE CELLAR, ALCOHOLICA, XES WHISKEY.
